NOW FOR A STORY
Let's begin with a dream
In my dream, I am lying on the floor completely unable to move.
Face-down on the pavement I am only aware of two stark noises.
The first is the sound of people walking straight past me and the second is my own heartbeat.
My heart beats and I can hear it resounding strangely through the concrete floor.
Da-doof. Da-doof. Da-doof.
The rhythmic sound of my heart, echoing back at me, like a wave hitting the shore.
Suddenly the dream changes and I’m no longer face-down on the floor.
Instead I’m now watching my dream unfold.
I see myself from above.
I recognize my lifeless body and watch while people simply walk straight past me.
I am horrified at their indifference.
Why am I just lying there?
"Move!", I shout.
Get up and do something!
Frustration begins to mount and now I am raging at the visible lack of concern from strangers who are simply walking straight past this body (my body).
The dreamscene then changes.
Now I find myself in a room and it is filled with flowers.
All of these beautiful Aralias.
The scent is intoxicating and I am relieved to have found distance from the pavement and the strangers. I begin to water the flowers.
Only to then wake up.
So as someone who tends to dreams, who nurtures them by watering them with life and wonder, I knew that my dream was speaking to the nourishment that I needed, that we collectively need, and that perhaps you need right now?
And so, here goes my translation of soul speak,
the mother-tongue of dreams, so that both you &
I may accept this dream as guidance
I am helpless on the floor.
(Who hasn’t felt pangs of powerlessness during these times?)
I hear my heart: da-doof, da-doof.
(The food, the food {doof-food} = the heart food)
Strangers walk past me completely indifferent to my plight.
(Our collective need for empathy and understanding that we are all one.)
I transcend my body and begin to see my predicament from a higher perspective just as an ancient being would watch the human narrative unfold.
(Perhaps we are all in need of a higher perspective. A perspective that includes the Highest Self. That inner spark of divinity that so many people speak to but so few feel directly.)
The dream changes and I am no longer in the same environment.
Now, I find myself in a room with flowers. All these aralias.
I wake up and the name sticks with me.
I make a cup of coffee and then Google:
“etymology of the word Aralia”
And the search result shows me this:
From modern Latin meaning: of unknown origin.
When you work with dreams, you are working with a force that is primal in nature which is of an Unknown Origin.
Some people call it the Mystery, others the Dream Maker, God, the Universe, or the Soul.
Take your pick.
And therein lies exactly what I do: I tend to the unknown origin of dreams, and the non-physical.
I marry Spirit with Psyche.
And I guide, dreamers, just like you, into working with their symbolic messages so that they may receive their wisdom.
Every night you are interlinked with the mystery that provides you dreams. You are given stories so that you may use them.
Through the symbols, the images and the strangers that you meet, you are being spoken to.
My question is: are you listening to the stories of your sleep, and the symbols from the everyday street?
Here lies the second meaning of Aralia:
A widely distributed flower that includes some medicinal properties.
Dreams, like Aralias, are medicinal. They are equally alchemical.
They come from within the depths of your own psyche and soul.
That is the very spark of Unknown Origin.
When you tend to them, when you water them with your attention and knowing, you move from being a lifeless victim lying on the proverbial pavement floor and become a gardener of the soul. Meaning your very own life.
